The number of sessions varies depending on each individual’s skin colour type and degree and depth of photoaging.

You may feel mild discomfort and a little heat during a session. The skin is cooled after your treatment to provide more comfortable and safer treatment.

During the first few days following your IPL treatment session, the treated skin may be red and slightly swollen. In the following 7-10 days, brown spots will become darker, possibly crust then flake off. Broken capillaries may appear blurred or bluish or may disappear completely.

IR skin tightening is a non-surgical, non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment.
It uses infrared light energy to penetrate the tissue under the skin’s surface, leaving the top layer of skin unaffected.

It is not designed to treat significant loose or extra skin, such as after massive weight loss, which may be better suited to surgical approaches, but is suitable to tone and tighten skin on the face and neck. Results do vary significantly between individuals.

The IR procedure uses a safe level of infrared light that is able to penetrate the deeper layers of skin. The light energy heats the water in the skin tissue and causes collagen fibres to contract and tighten.

Results vary depending on the patient and the condition that is being treated. Typically, patients may need 1–3 treatments for smaller facial veins. Treatment intervals are 4–8 weeks. Larger veins or other vascular lesions may need more treatments.

After the treatment, you may have some redness and bruising, but it can be hidden with makeup. Blistering and scarring are rare.

When you come in for a treatment, we will cleanse the area that we are treating, then apply a small amount of ultrasound gel to the skin. You will wear laser safety goggles to shield your eyes. You will feel some heat and the sensation of an elastic band hitting the skin when the laser/IPL is activated. The treatment only takes a few minutes, and the laser exposure time is only seconds. After the treatment is over, we apply some aloe vera gel to the skin.
You should never pick the skin after treatment, and always protect your skin from the sun. The discomfort is brief and minimal, lasting only seconds.
