IPL for Sun Spots and Redness
IPL Photofacial
$350 | FACE, NECK & CHEST
An IPL photofacial is a light-based treatment used to reduce visible sun spots, brown pigmentation, uneven tone, diffuse facial redness and small visible vessels.
At Event Skincare in Kelowna, every IPL treatment begins with a careful assessment of your skin, pigmentation pattern and recent sun exposure. This determines whether IPL is appropriate and which concerns can be treated safely and effectively.
IPL uses multiple wavelengths of light that are absorbed by melanin and hemoglobin. Brown spots typically darken before gradually flaking away, while redness and visible vessels may fade progressively following treatment.
IPL is best suited to fair-to-medium, untanned skin. It is not used to treat melasma, which requires a different treatment approach.
Why Choose an ipl photofacial?
BROWN PIGMENTATION
IPL targets sun spots, freckles and localized brown pigmentation caused by accumulated sun exposure.
FACIAL REDNESS
Light energy can reduce diffuse redness and small visible capillaries, particularly around the cheeks, nose and chin.
MULTIPLE AREAS
IPL can be used on the face, neck, chest and hands, with settings selected for your skin and the area being treated.
LIMITED DOWNTIME
Temporary warmth and redness may occur. Brown spots typically darken and gradually flake away over the following 7–10 days..
IPL photofacial FAQs
-
You will wear protective eyewear while controlled pulses of light are delivered across the treatment area. Most clients feel brief warmth or a light snapping sensation. Temporary redness may follow, and treated brown spots typically darken before gradually flaking away over 7–10 days.
-
Most treatment plans begin with a series of three sessions spaced approximately four weeks apart. The number required depends on the concerns being treated and how your skin responds.
-
IPL is best performed during fall and winter, when sun exposure is lower and the skin is not tanned. Consistent sun protection is essential before and after every treatment.
-
No. IPL uses a range of filtered light wavelengths, while a laser uses a single wavelength. This allows IPL to target both brown pigment and visible blood vessels.
-
IPL is not used to treat melasma at Event Skincare because light and heat may stimulate pigment activity and make it more difficult to manage. Melasma requires a different approach using carefully selected peels, pigment-inhibiting skincare and consistent sun protection.
