Fractional laser resurfacing is a corrective treatment for fine lines, rough or uneven texture, the appearance of enlarged pores and acne scarring. It can also improve superficial sun damage and uneven tone.
At Event Skincare, the Er:Yag laser creates a precise pattern of microscopic treatment zones, leaving untreated skin between them to support healing. These controlled treatment zones prompt skin renewal and collagen remodelling, gradually creating a smoother, more even-looking surface.
Er resurfacing is selected when texture is the primary concern and a more intensive treatment than a facial or peel is appropriate. The treatment is planned around your skin, goals and ability to accommodate several days of visible recovery.
Why choose laser resurfacing?
SMOOTHER TEXTURE
Fractional resurfacing renews rough, uneven skin so it feels smoother and makeup sits more evenly.
SOFTER FINE LINES
Controlled resurfacing and collagen remodelling can soften fine lines, particularly around the eyes and mouth.
SUN DAMAGE & UNEVEN TONE
Resurfacing can soften visible sun damage and create a clearer, more even-looking surface.
PORES & ACNE SCARS
By renewing the skin’s surface and supporting collagen, treatment can improve the appearance of enlarged pores and acne scarring.
FRACTIONAL LASER RESURFACING FAQS
-
A topical numbing cream is applied for approximately 45 minutes before treatment. You will wear protective eyewear while the Er laser is passed across the selected areas. Most clients describe moderate warmth or a prickling sensation.
-
Expect redness, warmth and possible swelling during the first 24–48 hours. Over the following several days, the skin may feel dry, rough or sandpapery and begin to flake. Residual pinkness and sensitivity can last longer depending on the treatment intensity and your skin’s response.
Avoid swimming, strenuous exercise, heat, active skincare and direct sun exposure until your skin has sufficiently healed.
-
A series of three treatments spaced approximately six to eight weeks apart is commonly recommended for progressive improvement. Some clients notice a meaningful change after one treatment, while deeper lines, scarring or more established texture concerns may require a series.
-
The skin begins to look smoother once the initial dryness and flaking have resolved. Improvement continues over the following weeks and months as collagen remodels, with results developing gradually rather than appearing all at once.
-
Fractional resurfacing may be appropriate when fine lines, rough texture, visible pores or acne scarring require more correction than a facial or peel can provide.
Suitability depends on your skin tone, medical history, medications, current skin condition, recent sun exposure and tendency to pigment or scar. A history of keloid or abnormal scarring may require medical clearance before treatment.
-
Both technologies resurface the skin, but Er energy is absorbed very precisely by water within the skin. This generally produces less surrounding thermal effect than traditional CO₂ resurfacing and can allow a more controlled treatment with a shorter recovery period.
Neither laser is universally better. The appropriate technology depends on the concern, treatment depth and amount of recovery you can accommodate.m description
